Meet Bonita, a 49-year-old agency recruiter from Diamond Bar, California.

While staying in Taipei for a week while her child attended a local Mandarin immersion program, Bonita saw an opportunity to book a full-body health screening.

Bonita has been living with chronic kidney disease for over a decade. While she regularly monitors her illness in the U.S., she wanted a more comprehensive, whole-body checkup to gain a more complete understanding of her current health and was also curious about new treatment options she might not hear about back home.

Bonita chose the Advanced holistic exam and added comprehensive women’s health exams, including breast and gynecological ultrasound, pap smear test, HPV testing, and a female hormone panel. She was even able to add a check-up with a nephrologist through New Dawn Health during her stay.

Bonita’s Experience

Bonita discovered New Dawn Health through a good friend who did research on health screenings in Taiwan and had a good experience booking with New Dawn Health in advance. Not speaking Mandarin, and with limited time to research and navigate a foreign healthcare system, Bonita put her trust in New Dawn Health team’s personalized recommendations after sharing her health goals and medical conditions. After several iterations of finalizing her custom package, Bonita felt confident in the pricing, logistics, and overall support.

Bonita was unsure what to expect from the hospital. Based on what she learned from her friends who had health screenings in other countries, Bonita was concerned about navigating the hospital on the day of her appointment. She wondered, “Will I know what to do? Will someone be there to help guide me?” Additionally, she was somewhat skeptical about why her holistic exam, which included an MRI and a full body health check, would take an entire day from 8:30 AM to 5 PM.

After logging her activities and reflecting on her day, she was surprised by how smooth and organized everything was. From receiving courier-delivered test kits from New Dawn Health upon her arrival at the Airbnb to having 24/7 concierge service and a dedicated health coordinator throughout her hospital visit, the process felt seamless. She was particularly impressed by the efficiency of the experience, as she was seen in multiple departments, often without waiting for more than a few minutes. Plus, communication was easy with the English-speaking staff.

The following day after her health screening, Bonita met with the hospital's nephrologist the following day, a pre-arranged visit booked by New Dawn Health. She wanted to get a second opinion on her chronic kidney disease condition and learn about other available treatment options. The whole process was seamless for Bonita, since the hospital could access her results from the day prior, and the doctor was able to conveniently review her records. The specialist introduced her to new FDA-approved medications and region-specific treatments she wasn’t aware of. Bonita is now planning to discuss these new options with her U.S.-based doctor. Bonita believes it’s always a good idea to get second opinions on different treatment options, no matter if your condition is stable or not: “I’ve learned you need to always advocate for yourself with your doctor.”

The whole experience gave Bonita greater peace of mind, insights for her ongoing care, and potential new treatment options. She noted how much she valued the immediate, face-to-face discussions with many specialist doctors, which are very hard to come by in the U.S.! Though she had heard of Prenuvo, she knew it would’ve been far more expensive and time-consuming to research and coordinate. She left feeling empowered, informed, and fully supported.

Advice to Others

Bonita encourages others, especially Americans, to consider medical tourism with New Dawn Health. The cost and time value you receive exceeds anything you find in the States. She highlights the ease of communication, thoughtful coordination, and access to in-person visits with multiple doctors, all of which are rare in the U.S. healthcare system. The ability to review test results immediately and ask questions on the spot made a big difference. "Even though the doctor visits were brief, I never felt rushed," she says. Her advice: “Just do it.”
