If you're visiting Taiwan with kids, our New Dawn Health team is excited to share a short list of resources that will help make your stay a smooth one.
Clinics:
In general, access to quality doctors and hospitals is efficient and affordable, even out-of-pocket. At doctor clinics, you would pay a small registration fee of around $200-300 NT (less than $10 USD) to see the doctor and receive medicine.

Hospitals - Pediatrics department and Urgent Care:
Hospitals have pediatrics departments (with doctors who speak English) that can perform the regular checkups if your child is sick, just like the clinics do. Still, there will be more registration paperwork involved, and you will spend extra time going to different counters to register, get medicine, and make payments.
Two specific gems to share:
The hospitals’ immunology and allergy pediatric department can perform allergy panels, which consist of a blood test that checks approximately 30 potential allergens (the out-of-pocket cost for this is roughly $100 USD).
The pediatric ophthalmology department at NTU is renowned for its expertise in addressing the unique vision needs of children, especially those who require surgery or further evaluation.

Taipei offers a wide range of quality healthcare services for children that are accessible, affordable, and English‑friendly. You can take your child to local family medicine and pediatric clinics for general check‑ups, vaccinations, or treatment for common illnesses. There are also pediatric dental clinics, physical and speech therapy services, and eye clinics that specialize in children’s care. Larger hospitals such as MacKay Memorial Hospital, Taipei Adventist Hospital, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital have dedicated pediatric departments and staff who can provide more extensive care when needed.
Yes — children in Taipei have access to specialized pediatric services beyond basic doctor visits. In hospitals, you can find pediatric departments that offer diagnostic testing and advanced care. For example, some hospitals provide allergy panels that test for reactions to multiple allergens, and the pediatric ophthalmology department at NTU is well‑known for children’s eye care, including vision evaluations and surgical consultations. These specialist services are available as part of routine care for families visiting or living in Taipei.
Yes — children’s preventive care is an important part of healthcare in Taipei. Routine well‑child check‑ups, vaccination services, and developmental screenings are available through pediatric clinics and hospitals, ensuring that kids stay on track with immunizations and healthy development. Taipei’s public health information (such as the Child Health Handbook) helps parents follow recommended schedules and track growth milestones. In addition, many clinics will work with parents to monitor growth, development, and health over time if you stay in Taiwan for longer periods.
