When practitioners pair IPL and ResurFX™ in a single visit, it is commercially referred to as Photofabulous™.
Because aging, sun damage, and skin wear happen in multiple layers of the skin, combining these two treatments delivers a "3D" transformation in one session.
Step 1 (Tone Clean-up with IPL): The practitioner glides the IPL handpiece across the face to erase redness, brown spots, and vascular lesions on the surface.
Step 2 (Texture & Firming with ResurFX™): Immediately following the IPL pass, the ResurFX™ laser is applied across the same area to penetrate deep into the dermis, stimulating collagen and smoothing skin texture.
| Feature | Taiwan Practice Pattern | US Practice Pattern |
| Who Fires the Laser? | Physician-Only: By law, medical energy devices must be personally operated by a licensed physician (typically a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon). | Delegated Delivery: Frequently performed by Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), or licensed Aestheticians under a doctor's oversight. |
| Skin Type Focus | Fitzpatrick III–IV (Asian Skin): Heavy focus on preventing thermal damage, rebound hyperpigmentation, and treating melasma (肝斑) gently. | Fitzpatrick I–VI: Broader variety of skin phototypes, requiring vastly different fluence and wavelength adjustments per patient. |
| Treatment Philosophy | Frequent, Gentle Maintenance: Treatments are often viewed like high-end facials, scheduled regularly every 1–2 months to maintain clarity and pore size. | Episodic Correction: Patients tend to seek lasers as a corrective fix every 6–12 months or in response to visible sun damage accumulation. |
| Cooling & Comfort | Extensive Numbing & Soothing: Clinics often include elaborate 20–30 minute pre-treatment numbing and post-laser cooling/hydration masks (敷面/鎮定) as standard practice. | Standard Medical Care: Numbing is applied, but elaborate post-laser spa protocols are usually an add-on or skipped in favor of a simple barrier ointment. |
