Polyp Removal & Associated Fees
If your doctor deems it necessary and you have provided consent, polyps may be removed during your colonoscopy. Please note that additional fees apply for this procedure. A nurse will provide a detailed explanation of these costs during your consultation.
Medication Adjustments
To minimize the risk of bleeding during a biopsy or polyp removal, please discontinue all anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medications for 7 days prior to your procedure. If you are unsure whether your medication falls into this category, please ask our concierge team who will get in touch with the hospital.
Travel Restrictions Following Procedure
Your ability to fly shortly after the procedure depends on the type of treatment performed:
-
Small Polyps (Cauterization/Electric Burn): There are typically no travel restrictions; you may fly as scheduled.
-
Large Polyp Resection: We recommend avoiding long-distance flights for at least 7 days following the procedure to ensure your safety and monitor for potential complications.
Limitations of the Examination
While we strive for a comprehensive screening, a complete examination may not be possible for every individual. Factors such as abnormal anatomy or intestinal adhesions (common in patients with a history of abdominal surgery) can affect the procedure. The final decision on the extent of the examination will be made by your gastroenterologist during the procedure to ensure your safety.
