Your Ultimate Guide to Taiwan's Beauty & Cosmetic Services (2026 edition)

Taiwan clinics run the same brand-name devices found in the US, Korea and Japan: PicoSure, Thermage FLX, Ultherapy, Morpheus8, HydraFacial. Booked through New Dawn Health, prices run from $35 for teeth whitening and $135 for a HydraFacial to $350 for Botox at Provenir Clinic, $400 for a Picosure Pro session and $1,600 for PRP hair restoration. Higher-risk cosmetic surgery may only be performed at institutions approved by a city or county health authority, on a register Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare publishes. This guide covers the treatments, the prices, the regulation, and how to plan the trip.

Beauty and cosmetic tourism is growing worldwide, and travelers, particularly from the United States, are looking beyond their borders for destinations that offer the same treatments at a lower price. Taiwan, Asia's hidden gem, has emerged in this space with advanced, diverse and competitively priced aesthetic services.

Choosing a destination for a treatment is a strategic decision, not a holiday add-on. Travelers now pick countries that combine real savings with high standards of care and early access to new technology. Asia, and Taiwan in particular, is well placed here, pairing advanced medical technology with meticulous care standards.

This guide is for anyone considering travel to Taiwan for cosmetic procedures. It covers what Taiwan offers, what the treatments cost when booked through New Dawn Health, how the industry is regulated, how Taiwan compares with South Korea, Japan and Singapore, and how to plan the trip.

If you need help identifying the right provider or service, the New Dawn Health team is here to help. We specialize in helping international travelers book preventive healthcare and wellness services.

Why do people travel abroad for beauty treatments?

Firstly, price. The same brand-name device treatments, Pico laser sessions, Thermage skin tightening and cosmetic injectables, cost less in Taiwan than at home for many travelers. The price table below lists what New Dawn Health charges for each treatment, so you can compare against a quote from your own clinic.

Secondly, Asia, and Taiwan in particular, is often at the forefront of adopting new cosmetic technology. Many aesthetic devices and techniques reach Asian markets before they are widely available in the U.S.

Thirdly, the standard of care overseas is often underestimated. Taiwan has a rigorous medical training system, many practitioners hold international credentials, and clinics work under regulatory oversight from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (see the next section).

Fourthly, convenience. Overseas clinics often have shorter wait times and can consolidate several procedures into one visit, which suits a traveler on a fixed schedule.

Finally, combining a procedure with travel adds value beyond the treatment itself: privacy away from home, recovery time that doubles as a holiday, and Taiwan's food, culture and hot springs.

Why choose Taiwan for cosmetic treatments?

Taiwan, often overshadowed by South Korea and Japan, is relatively undiscovered for aesthetic tourism, which means more personal attention and a more relaxed, customer-focused experience.

Taiwanese clinics run FDA-cleared devices such as PicoSure, Thermage FLX, Ultherapy and Emsculpt Neo. Taiwan's strength in technology extends naturally into its medical and aesthetic industries.

The industry is regulated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) under the Regulations Governing the Performance of Specific Medical Techniques (特定醫療技術檢查檢驗醫療儀器施行或使用管理辦法), which has a dedicated chapter on aesthetic surgery and specific aesthetic procedures. Since January 2019, the higher-risk cosmetic surgeries named in that regulation — bone contouring, mid-face and full-face lifts, rhinoplasty, breast implants, large-volume liposuction, abdominoplasty and full-body lifts among them — may only be performed at institutions approved and registered by the city or county health authority, and general anaesthesia for them must be given by an anaesthesiologist. The regulation was last amended on 31 December 2025. MOHW publishes the register of approved institutions, last updated 30 June 2025; 168 institutions were approved as of the end of May 2019, 60 hospitals and 108 clinics.

For non-surgical clinics there is a separate MOHW-backed quality certification run by the Joint Commission of Taiwan. It assesses 20 criteria, including staff qualifications, information transparency, environmental safety, emergency response and complaint handling, and a certificate is valid for three years. The Taipei City Government's Department of Health, which runs the Taipei Medical Tourism programme, advises visitors to choose institutions accredited by the MOHW or the Joint Commission of Taiwan.

The Taiwanese approach to aesthetics blends East Asian preferences for natural beauty and skin health with Western expectations of individual customization. Clinics aim for subtle, harmonious enhancements tailored to each patient.

Taiwan is also safe, welcoming and easy to get around, especially in Taipei, which makes a treatment trip simple to organize.

The same page also lists salon services such as lash extensions ($80), microblading ($460), facial guasha ($50) and abdomen cupping ($60). iHope Clinic's custom dermatology treatments are quoted after an in-person consultation and paid at the clinic. How do you plan a beauty trip to Taiwan?

    1. Define your aesthetic goals and decide between a luxury or a practical experience.
    2. Research the treatment and the clinic. For surgery, confirm the clinic appears on the register MOHW publishes; for non-surgical work, look for the Joint Commission of Taiwan aesthetic medicine certification.
    3. Get a written quote. Cheaper is not always better, and a reputable facilitator such as New Dawn Health can arrange the consultation, the booking and the logistics.
    4. Build in recovery time and use it. Taiwan's holistic, patient-centered approach extends beyond the clinic: look to hot spring resorts, massages and spas, healthy cuisine, or book a full-body health screening that is world-class yet affordable.
